Shishapangma Base Camp Trekking
Shishapangma (8046 m) is the hidden jewel of Tibet that lies west of Mt. Everest, behind the Langtang range.
The five days trek to Shishapangma base camp is easier than most other treks in Tibet as it does not require crossing any high passes. Still it is one of the most beautiful treks in Tibet. During monsoon the alpine floors here have nourishing lush meadows and a spectacular display of wildflowers.
After the trek we head for Lhasa. En route we visit the Tashilhunpo monastery in Shigatse and the Gyantse fort/Kumbum monastery in Gyantse. The overland tour to Lhasa is enriched by numerous encounters with yak and sheep herders, the serene blue lakes and the fascinating beauty of the Tibetan plateau.
Crossing many high passes above 5000 m along the way and enjoying the superb views from these passes we reach Lhasa. Two days of guided tour takes us to all the important sites in Lhasa. We conclude our trip with a sensational flight across the Himalaya to Kathmandu.
